  • Anxious dogs who find attending a clinic stressful.

  • Your dog has trouble getting into the car

  • You're worried it hurts your dog to travel

What is physio for dogs?

Dog physiotherapy is similar to physiotherapy for children; we aim to get your dog feeling better ASAP without causing any pain or distress. Usually, once they realise who's at their door, excitement and tail wags begin. We work hard to make the sessions fun, relaxing & active. Most dog parents tell us their dog sleeps well after physio, and we all know a tired dog is a happy dog!

Dog Physiotherapy is performed by an animal or canine physiotherapist with a degree in human physiotherapy, who has undergone several years of post-graduate training & experience in animal physiotherapy.

Physio for dogs is GENTLE and helps your dog with;

- pain management

- preparing for surgery

- rehabilitation following surgery

- fitness

- strength

- flexibility

- avoiding injuries

- helping prevent arthritis

- weight management

- conditioning for sporting dogs

- bonding while doing a fun activity together

We are qualified to use methods such as;

- massage & manual therapies such as myofascial release

- laser treatment

- acupuncture & dry needling

- kinesiotaping

- PEMF treatment

- proprioceptive neuromuscular re-education

- EMG & TENS

- hydrotherapy

- conditioning

Importantly, your dog is never forced to do anything.

We do NOT subscribe to "no pain, no gain".

For us, dog physio is FEAR FREE, PAIN FREE.

Why Choose DogFit P.T.?

Our goal is to create a fun, caring environment where your furry friend can relax, receive the most soothing treatments and learn how to use their muscles in a more efficient way.

We offer personalised evidence-based treatment plans, ensuring every dog’s unique needs are recognised & catered for.  Seeing them in their own home really helps us get this spot-on.

Our qualified experienced physiotherapist Emma Duffy is super passionate about advocating for our pets who can't speak for themselves. Emma's mantra is "kindness always", and once Emma is confident that any pain has been identified & managed, she uses a holistic approach to getting your dog's mojo back.

Emma works closely with your Vet, Specialist, Vet Behaviourist or any other professionals involved to make sure your dog's physiotherapy is complementing & integrating with their veterinary care. She has good professional relationships with many Sydney Vets, Specialists & qualified colleagues in the field.

Emma Duffy (BSc.Hons Physiotherapy) qualified as a physiotherapist in the UK over 20 years ago, working in the NHS & private clinics while she also studied acupuncture & canine massage.

Since moving to Australia 10 years ago, she has continued post-graduate studies in animal physiotherapy, and was fortunate to work with & be mentored by Dr Helen Nicholson (PhD Animal Physiotherapy) at Whole Family Health in St Mary's for 2.5 years.

Emma has also worked at Vet Clinics, Animal Rescues, & offers Animal Assisted Physiotherapy for disabled children.
